TEXTILES - VESTMENTS
The city of Gyöngyös has been destroyed by fire on several occasions, and many textiles have been lost over the centuries. It is therefore unsurprising that the cathedral sacristy contains just 12 vestments to remind us of how previous generations decorated their ceremonial church attire.
The textile relics include the church flags, which have also only survived from the modern period, and which are still in use today. The larger church and association flags, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, can be found adorning the walls at the rear of the church.
